DSR Fishing Report for 30 April 2026:  

REPORT:

The angler density was moderate today with slow to moderate angling success. Most anglers today used either spinning or fly tackle, and a variety of flies, egg sacks, beads, spinners and crankbaits were all used successfully.  The predominant species brought to hand today were both Steelhead and Smallmouth Bass. A good number of anglers stayed in the middle section of the run, while others decided to walk the entire run, both groups had mixed success. The water temperature was 52F and water clarity was good.  

WEATHER / CFS:

The current dam release is 350 CFS; it’s  scheduled to stay at that flow until 11:59 PM on 05/01/2026. The gauge at Pineville was at 570 CFS as of 4:30 PM. Tonight: Mostly cloudy skies early, then partly cloudy after midnight. Low 36F. Winds WNW at 5 to 10 mph. Tomorrow: A mix of clouds and sun early, then becoming cloudy later in the day. DSR Fishing Report for 30 April 2026:   REPORT: The angler density was moderate today with moderate angling success. Most anglers today used fly casting tackle, and a variety of flies, egg sacks, beads, and crankbaits were all used successfully.  The predominant species brought to hand today were Smallmouth Bass, with a smattering of Steelhead.  Some of the anglers roamed the entire run, however most of the anglers were in the center to lower parts of the run. There was negligible wind and the forecasted early-afternoon rains never really materialized until very late in the afternoon.   WEATHER / CFS: The current dam release is 350 CFS; it’s  scheduled to stay at that flow until 11:59 PM on 04/30/2026. The gauge at Pineville was at 482 CFS as of 4:00 PM. Tonight: Periods of rain. Low 42F. Winds SSW at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 100%. Rainfall possibly over one inch. DSR Fishing Report for 28 April 2026:  

REPORT:

The angler density was moderate today with moderate to good angling success. Anglers used fly and spin casting tackle, and a variety of egg sacks, beads, flies and crankbaits were all used successfully. Steelhead and Smallmouth Bass were the predominant species with a small Brown being landed. Most of the anglers were in the center part of the run. The wind didn’t seem to affect the anglers and the reported rains never materialized.

The current dam release is 350 CFS; It’s  scheduled to stay at that flow until 11:59 pm on 04/29/2026. The gauge at Pineville was at 482 CFS as of 5:00pm. Tonight: Cloudy. Low near 50F. Winds SSE at 10 to 20 mph.   Tomorrow: Cloudy with rain developing later in the day. High around 60F. Winds SSE at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 100%. Rainfall near a quarter of an inch. DSR Fishing Report for 27 April 2026:   REPORT: The morning report started off positively with one guest reporting he was 1 / 2 on Steelhead float-fishing with beads; not bad on many days.  As the morning moved into the afternoon the reports became incrementally better and better, with a few guests fishing the Glide stating they “hammered Steelhead all day”, followed by several reports of guests bringing to hand several Steelhead each, then comments such as “best day ever”, “too many to count”, with several double-digits in the reporting mix.  Our guests fished all areas of the run, which all produced Steelhead.  Beads (green and washed-out orange), flies (nymphs), pink worms, egg sacks all worked today.  A few Smallmouth Bass showed up in the reports, one or two at a time, with the largest estimated at a chunky 4 #.  The weather was absolutely perfect today; the icing on the cake.   WEATHER / CFS: The current dam release is 350 CFS; It’s  scheduled to stay at that flow until 11:59 pm on 04/28/2026. DSR Fishing Report for 26 April 2026:

REPORT:

We had a moderate to high number of guests join us on the run today.  Although steelhead, (drop backs as well as fresh), were caught today, the smallmouth bass really picked up in a big way.  Many guests reported double digits for smallmouth using crankbaits, worms, and streamers.  Beads and swung streamers were the primary methods used for Steelhead that were brought to hand today.

Pictured below is Austin with a very nice smallmouth that have started showing up on the run.

The current dam release is 350 CFS, (reduced from 500 CFS at 4pm this afternoon.) It’s  scheduled to stay at that flow until 11:59 pm on 04/26/2026. The gauge at Pineville is currently at 688 CFS and dropping.

DSR Fishing Report for 25 April 2026:

REPORT:

We had high density of guests through mid-morning tapering off to a moderate amount of guests after the lunch hour.  Angling success would be characterized between slow and good.  There were several guests I spoke with that came off the run that didn’t hook up, but almost an equal number who connected with at least one or more steelhead, (as well as a handful of smallmouths.)  The steelhead were predominantly drop backs, with only a couple of fresh fish mixed in.

The current dam release is 750 CFS; it is currently scheduled to stay at that flow until 11:59 pm on 04/26/2026. The gauge at Pineville is currently at 936 CFS.

DSR Fishing Report for 24 April 2026:

REPORT:

We had a moderate to high number of anglers join us on the run today.  Angling success was moderate.  Most anglers I spoke with hooked steelhead, but the numbers were down slightly from yesterday.  The bright sunny sky may have had something to do with that.  Most of the steelhead were drop backs with a couple of fresh fish in the mix; a singular smallmouth and a handful of browns were also brought to hand today.

REPORT:

We had a moderate number of anglers join us on the run today.  Angling success would best defined as somewhere between moderate and good.  Most anglers I spoke with hooked steelhead and the majority hooked several.  We didn’t have any reports of brown trout brought to hand, but the Smallmouth are now starting to show up, with a handful caught today.

The current dam release is 750 CFS; it is currently scheduled to stay at that flow until 11:59 pm on 04/24/2026. The gauge at Pineville is currently at 962 CFS.

REPORT:

The water temperature was 48F this morning and 52F this afternoon. The angler density moderate and angler success was also moderate. Some anglers had a bit more luck when there was some cloud cover. Steelhead was the only species mentioned being hooked or landed. Most anglers were in the middle of the run, with a few walking the up and down the run.

REPORT:

The water temperature this morning was 46F and this afternoon it was 48F. Angler density was low and angling success was moderate. Most anglers were using beads and fished the middle of the run, while a few walked up to the upper portion of the middle section all the way to the bottom of the run. Most fish landed were Steelhead with one Brown landed. The water clarity was really good as stated by one angler.

The current dam release is 1000 CFS; it is currently scheduled to stay at that flow until 7:30am on 04/22/2026. The flow will be dropped to 750CFS at 7:30am and remain there until 11:59pm 04/22/2026. The gauge at Pineville is currently at 1470 CFS. Tonight: Cloudy skies. Slight chance of a rain shower. Low 43F. DSR Fishing Report for 20 April 2026:   REPORT:  Just over a handful of anglers were on the run today; they were all relatively successful. One guest indicated hooking double digits of Steelhead and landing one small Brown Trout; others reported bringing several Steelhead to hand, a bit on the larger side, mostly “fresh” fish.  All sections of the run fished well, with swung egg-patterned and other flies the most popular and productive options today, as well as beads drifted under a bobber.   WEATHER / CFS: The current dam release is 1000 CFS; it is currently scheduled to stay at that flow until 11:59 PM on 04/21/2026. REPORT:

A handful of anglers were on the run today with moderate success. Most guests indicated hooking and landing a few Steelhead. One guest also landed a 3.5lb Smallmouth Bass in the middle section of the run.

REPORT:

We had a moderate number of anglers join us on the run today.  The fishing was reported as moderate during the 1^st half of the day with most anglers hooking a steelhead, some connecting with several.  The afternoon reports were listed as slow as the bite eased off, possibly due to the decreased water flow making it’s way down throughout the entire river.

REPORT:

The overcast skies, warm temperatures and intermittent rain may have contributed to the low angler density. Water visibility was about 3 feet. The success rate was low, but most anglers reported landing a few fish. Steelhead, Brown and Fallfish were all landed today. Anglers were in the  middle to lower end of the run.

REPORT:

The water temperature this morning was 45F and this afternoon was 49F. The angler density was low, success was slow, and visibility was about 2 feet. The morning anglers stated that small jerk baits were successful. Steelhead was the only species noted.

The current dam release is  1800CFS and currently scheduled to stay at that flow until 11:59pm on 04/16/2026. The gauge at Pineville is at 2420CFS. The scheduled water release for the Salmon River from Lighthouse Hill Dam exceeds 2,000 cubic feet per second (CFS).  As a precaution, Douglaston Salmon Run will be closed to fishing until the dam’s release recedes below the 2,000 CFS threshold.   We understand that this may cause inconvenience, and we appreciate your understanding. During the high water closure our office will remain open for abbreviated hours from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.  If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to our guest services team via email at [email protected] or by phone (315) 298-6672 ext. 0   DSR will continue to monitor https://www.safewaters.com/facility/lighthouse-hill and once the dam’s release recedes below the 2,000 CFS threshold we will reopen to angling for the hours posted at https://douglastonsalmonrun.com/. Note, if the flow is reduced below the 2,000 CFS threshold mid-day, DSR will remain closed to fishing for that day and reopen to angling the next day.

This fishing closure will not affect lodging reservations as not all guests have plans to fish. However, if this high-water fishing closure does affect the intended purpose of your stay, please contact us to reschedule or cancel your lodging reservation. If cancelled, you will be credited with the full amount of your payment(s). DSR Fishing Report for 11 April 2026:

REPORT:

Our guest density was moderate today with angling success also listed as moderate.  The majority of our anglers hooked multiple steelhead, (several drop backs included in the mix), with a handful of browns..  A variety of different colored beads, (pink, chartreuse, orange), fished under a float was the method used by the majority of our guests on the run today.

DSR Fishing Report for  10 April 2026:  

REPORT:

Water temperature was 41F. Angler density was moderate today, angler success was moderate to good. Most guests were using beads (predominantly green) with bobbers. Some anglers stayed in the middle of the run and did well, while others were walking pretty much the length of the run and did equally as good. The water clarity was slightly stained with 3 to 4 feet visibility.  

WEATHER / CFS:

The current dam release is 750 CFS and currently scheduled to stay at that flow until 11:59pm on 04/11/2026. The gauge at Pineville is at 1140CFS. Tonight: Light rain early. Then remaining cloudy. Low 37F. Winds NW at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 100%.   Tomorrow: Morning clouds will give way to sunshine for the afternoon. High around 45F. REPORT:

Angler density was moderate and angling success was deemed as moderate to good; a few guests indicated hooking and landing multiple Steelhead with a couple guests flirting with double digits. One guest also landed two browns in the 27”- 29” range.

The current dam release is 750 CFS and currently scheduled to stay at that flow until 11:59pm on 04/10/2026. The gauge at Pineville is at 1140CFS. Tonight: Cloudy. Low 47F.
