Fishing Report for 03/27/2025-Today saw about a dozen anglers head down to the run, fishing the top, middle and lower portions. Conditions continue to be trying with the flow of 1700 from the dam / 1970 cfs at the Pineville gauge, however the water clarity has improved since yesterday. One of the anglers I had a chance to speak with brought a nice brown trout to hand, ( a handful of anglers are still fishing at the time of this report.) Another cool start to the day tomorrow with temperatures in the high 20s, getting up to the mid-40s by late afternoon, mostly cloudy skies, little chance of any precipitation, and light winds from the N / NW. The flow from the dam is projected to stay at 1700 through at least 11:59pm tomorrow evening; the Pineville gauge is currently at 1970 cfs.

Fishing Report for 03/26/2025-We had a couple of anglers on the run today. I had a chance to speak to one of them and it was a solid day landing (5) steelhead in the lower portions of the run, and even better news that only (1) was colored up, the other (4) being very chrome and fighting like early fall fish! Tomorrow we’ll have temperatures in the mid-20s at sun-up, reaching the low 40s by night fall, with mostly sunny skies, and Westerly winds, 5-12mph, shifting to South-West late in the day. Fishing Report for 03/18/2025-We had a handful of anglers join us today on the run, with all but one fishing the morning hours and departing around 1pm. It was a beautiful day to be on the water with mostly sunny skies, little wind and no precipitation. With the warm temperatures over the weekend, coupled with some heavy rain on Sunday, we have close to 2000 cfs here primarily due to the heavy runoff from the streams below the dam. Whether it was the flow, bright sunlight, or a combination of both, our anglers had a tough time getting more than a hook up or two each, with none brought to hand. There were sightings of several Steelhead ‘finning’ on the smaller side branches of the main run, indicating that spawning is not far off, if not actually underway in portions of the entire river. Tomorrow we’ll have mostly sunny skies, with temperatures starting off in the low 40s around first light increasing to an almost balmy 68 degrees with very light S /SE wind, and little chance of any precipitation. The flow from the dam is scheduled to remain at 1250 cfs through 11:59pm tomorrow evening; the gauge at Pineville is currently at 1890 cfs and relatively steady.

There were no guests on the run today. CFS at the dam started at 1500 this morning, and was dropped to 1250 as of 3 PM this afternoon, where it is scheduled to remain until midnight tomorrow (watch it carefully, over the next few days, as we still have snowpack melting and on Thursday we are forecasted to get rain all day). CFS at the Pineville gauge has been gradually falling all day, and is currently at 2130. Our air temperatures have hovered in the mid-30s all day, and is currently gradually falling towards our overnight low of 24 degrees Fahrenheit. We've generally been overcast to partly cloudy, with light and variable winds. The forecast for tomorrow is: "Plentiful sunshine. High near 55F. Winds SSE at 5 to 10 mph." By the way, there are other types of fishing starting to pick up in our immediate area due to spawning activity: very large Yellow Perch, Bluegills and Pumpkinseed, Bullhead catfish, Crappie, are moving into shallows, and are fishable from the shore or small boats in local ponds, lakes, streams and rivers. Soon, the Smallmouth Bass will be coming into the run, and there will be truly large Northern Pike cruising the estuary. Our lodges are generally open for booking during this timeframe, at very reasonable rates, and would be ideal for a quick family getaway with the kids being able to keep occupied.

Fishing Report for 03/13/2025-We had (16) anglers join us on the run today, all showing up throughout the morning and most fishing ‘till just past noon with our last anglers departing around 5:00pm, working the traditional upper stretches all the way down to the lowest reaches of the run. The comments were almost identical to the last few days; everyone worked hard for a fish or two, primarily using egg sacks under floats, or egg imitations, along with a few squirmy worms, as well as a pair of steadfast Spey anglers. About two-thirds of the fish caught were fairly fresh, and the remainder colored up fairly well. Tomorrow the weather will again be above freezing at dawn, climbing to the upper 50s, with mostly sunny skies, and winds 6-10 mph from the SE. The flow from the dam is currently at 750 cfs due to bump up to 1000 cfs tonight at 8:00pm through 8pm tomorrow evening, then increase again to 1500 cfs at 8:00pm tomorrow night through 11:59pm Friday evening. The middle of the run was very productive today, with anglers noting that the water is open from the middle towards the lower end. The afternoon was a bit slower then the morning, anglers needed to keep moving up and down the run. It was a good day for the 15+ anglers.

Fishing Report for 03/06/2025-Once again we had a handful of anglers join us on the run starting mid-morning. The only angler I was able to speak with today fished the upper middle and lower middle of the run without success. The wind picked up around 2pm along with fairly heavy snow flurries that are still coming down as this report is being written. For tomorrow, the temperature will range from the upper 20s at dawn only reaching the low 30s by late afternoon, accompanied by strong W/NW winds from 17-25 mph, with a slight chance of any precipitation. Somewhat surprisingly, the flow from the dam was reduced at 3pm today to 500 cfs where it is scheduled to stay until 8:00am tomorrow morning, when it will be further reduced to 350 cfs through tomorrow evening at 11:59pm. The flow at the Pineville gauge is now 1140 cfs.

Fishing Report for 03/05/2025-We had a handful of guests fish the run today, all of them swinging flies in the middle sections. Each had a fish on if not landed; I spoke to the guest who was fortunate enough to land his steelhead and said it was completely chrome, not colored up at all. With the temperature pushing 50 degrees today and a moderate amount of showers, there was some reduction in our snowpack, but as of 5:15pm the warmer temperatures and precipitation hadn’t increased any of the feeder streams to a great extent. For tomorrow, temperatures should remain above freezing, in the mid-40s, gradually decreasing through the day ending up in the high 20s by nightfall. Winds will be light, around 6-10 mph from the S/SW in the morning, then become increasingly stronger, 15-20 mph, from W/NW by late afternoon with a chance of snow flurries. The flow from the dam is scheduled to remain at 1200 cfs through at least 11:59pm tomorrow night; (please continue to check https://www.safewaters.com/facility/lighthouse-hill or our DSR site if planning on coming from any distance away to fish tomorrow as its possible with rain scheduled through this evening the flow from the dam might increase.) The flow from the Pineville Gauge is currently 1500 cfs.

Fishing Report for 03/04/2025-We had just over ½ dozen anglers join us on the run today, with most of them on the river just after opening time. Reports were good from the anglers I spoke with so far today; several steelhead brought to hand using an indicator or bottom bouncing with egg sacks. The middle of the river was the area most fisherman spent most of their time, with one of our anglers working his way to the lower portions swinging flies without a take. The current temperature is 45 degrees and forecasted to stay above freezing throughout the night. There is a flood watch in effect for Oswego County through Thursday afternoon with showers / rain in the forecast for the majority of the day tomorrow, total rainfall to be near 1”, as temperatures may climb to 50 degrees with SE winds projected at 11-17 mph from the SE. The flow from the dam is scheduled to remain at 1200 cfs through at least 11:59pm tomorrow evening; the Pineville gauge is currently at 1470 cfs.

********************National Weather Service--Flood Watch*******************
Tuesday afternoon thru Thursday afternoon
The flow out of the Dam will be increased to 1200CFS starting 7pm tonight thru midnight tomorrow night. The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for our area: An intense storm system moving from the central plains across the central Great Lakes will send a surge of Spring like warmth the across our region Tuesday and Wednesday. Temperatures will soar into the 50s over the western counties on Tuesday with the mercury remaining well above freezing Tuesday night. Temperatures will then climb well into the 50s for the bulk of the region on Wednesday while being accompanied by a general half to three quarters of an inch of rainfall. The fast melt off of the snowpack will combine with this rainfall to cause significant rises to area tributaries with flooding becoming possible. Flooding concerns will be particularly elevated in areas where tributaries are prone to ice jam flooding. Just a few anglers were on the run today, the most success was had at the middle of the run and towards the lower end of the run. A couple of anglers walked most of the run with some success, but there wasn't one bait that worked consistently for them, a lot of trial and error. Tomorrow's weather will be cloudy skies. High around 45F. Winds SSE at 10 to 15 mph.22° / Clouds
