Per our high water protocol, DSR is closed for fishing until the dam release falls below 2,000 CFS.

The current dam release is 5500CFS and currently scheduled to stay at that flow until 11:59pm on 04/01/2026. The gauge at Pineville is at 6390CFS. Tonight:  Thunderstorms this evening followed by occasional showers overnight. Potential for heavy rainfall. Low 39F. Winds WSW at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 100%. NOTICE 03/31/26:

The scheduled water release for the Salmon River from Lighthouse Hill Dam exceeds 2,000 cubic feet per second (CFS).  As a precaution, Douglaston Salmon Run will be closed to fishing until the dam’s release recedes below the 2,000 CFS threshold.   We understand that this may cause inconvenience, and we appreciate your understanding. During the high water closure our office will remain open for abbreviated hours from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.  If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to our guest services team via email at [email protected] or by phone (315) 298-6672 ext. 0   DSR will continue to monitor https://www.safewaters.com/facility/lighthouse-hill and once the dam’s release recedes below the 2,000 CFS threshold we will reopen to angling for the hours posted at https://douglastonsalmonrun.com/. Note, if the flow is reduced below the 2,000 CFS threshold mid-day, DSR will remain closed to fishing for that day and reopen to angling the next day.  

To our Angling Guests:

Any pre-purchased fishing passes that are affected by this closure will be credited in full to your account. This credit is usable for any DSR good or service and is valid for the remainder of the current year through December 31^st of the coming year.  

To our Lodging Guests:

This fishing closure will not affect lodging reservations as not all guests have plans to fish. However, if this high-water fishing closure does affect the intended purpose of your stay, please contact us to reschedule or cancel your lodging reservation. If cancelled, you will be credited with the full amount of your payment(s). This credit is usable for any DSR good or service and is valid for the remainder of the current year through December 31^st of the coming year.   We look forward to welcoming you back when conditions are favorable for a safe and enjoyable fishing experience.

The angler density was low today and angler success was slow, those anglers that had success were using egg patterns. Most of the anglers were in the middle of the run.

The current dam release is 1750CFS and currently scheduled to stay at that flow until 11:59pm on 03/31/2026. The gauge at Pineville is at 2050CFS. Tonight:  Cloudy with occasional rain late. REPORT:

The angler density was low today and angler success was slow, those anglers that had success were using blue egg sacks and neutral beads. Most of the anglers were in the middle of the run.

REPORT:

The angler density today was low; angler success was slow to moderate. There were a couple of lodge guests on the run, but their success is unknown. Blue egg sacks worked well for one of our guests who fished mainly in the middle of the run.

REPORT:

A handful of anglers fished the run today.  The angling success was deemed as low; only one angler got into a pair of steelhead in the middle section.

WEATHER / CFS:

The current dam release is 1750CFS and currently scheduled to stay at that flow until 11:59pm on 03/27/2026. The gauge at Pineville is at 2020CFS.

REPORT:

A few anglers fished the run today with moderate success. One angler indicated hooking and landing one 30” Steelhead and the other anglers were able to land a few Steelhead that they described as “fresh”.

DSR Fishing Report for 24 March 2026:

REPORT: A handful of anglers fished the run today, primarily in the lower to middle sections.  Angler success was listed as slow to good with several steelhead, (some very fresh), coupled with a few browns.  Speaking with our guests as they departed several colors of egg sacs, pink, white, chartreuse as well as chartreuse beads and squirmy worms were the bait of choice.

The continuing stain and heavy flow of water kept the run unfished today.

REPORT:

The angler density was low today, and the angler success was slow. Anglers were in the middle of the run, the fish that were landed were fresh as stated by one of our guests. The water is still stained and visibility is about 3 feet. A season pass holder landed a fish using a pink worm on a bobber.

DSR Fishing Report for 21 March 2026:  

REPORT:

The number of anglers on the run today was low with the angler success ranging from slow to moderate. Anglers were primarily in the middle of the run, a group had success in the lower end of the run. One angler landed a mix of fish, couple of Drop Back Steelhead along with some fresh and at least one Brown Trout. The fish seemed to favor large and bright bait. The water conditions were stained and visibility was around 3 to 4 feet.

We had one guest fish the run this morning. They reported hooking multiple Steelhead, with only having landed one. Water was said to be still slightly off-color with about three foot of visibility.

DSR Fishing Report for 16 March 2026:

REPORT:

We had a few guests fish the run today. One bank angler stated that the water was very off-color making the fishing very difficult. DSR Guide Captain John Kopy took clients on a float trip through the run this morning, they hooked and landed a few Steelhead which varied from chrome to dark “resident” fish.

DSR Fishing Report for 15 March 2026

REPORT:

We had a pair of anglers on the run midday, (via drift boat with one of our DSR Guides), and they landed several steelhead, with (1) being spawned out.  They almost had a bonus King that decided this flow and this time of year was the time to enter the river but pulled off prior to being brought to hand.

WEATHER / CFS:

The current dam release is 1600 cfs and currently scheduled to stay at that flow until 11:59pm on 03/16/2026. The gauge at Pineville is at 1970 CFS.

Tonight: Cloudy and windy. Low 41F. Winds SE at 20 to 30 mph. Winds could occasionally gust over 40 mph.

Tomorrow: Cloudy and windy during the morning. Thunderstorms likely in the afternoon. A few storms may be severe. High 63F. Winds SSE at 20 to 30 mph. Chance of rain 100%.

DSR Fishing Report for 14 March 2026:

REPORT:

We had no anglers fish the run today. This was due to high and dirty water conditions caused by the snowmelt and run-off, along with very strong winds.

WEATHER / CFS:

The current dam release is 1600 cfs and currently scheduled to stay at that flow until 11:59pm on 03/14/2026. The gauge at Pineville is at 2060 CFS.

Tonight: Cloudy skies. A few flurries or snow showers possible. Low 22F. WNW winds shifting to E at 10 to 15 mph.

Tomorrow:  Cloudy. High 44F. Winds ESE at 15 to 25 mph.

REPORT:

We had no anglers fish the run today. This was due to high and dirty water conditions caused by the snowmelt and run-off, along with the threat of snow and wind.  

WEATHER / CFS:

The current dam release is 1600 cfs and currently scheduled to stay at that flow until 11:59pm on 03/14/2026. The gauge at Pineville is at 2190 CFS. Tonight: Rain and snow this evening, becoming all snow overnight. Low around 30F. Winds SSW at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of precip 90%. Snow accumulating 1 to 3 inches.   Tomorrow: Windy. Snow during the morning will taper off during the afternoon but it will remain cloudy. Temps nearly steady in the low to mid 30s. Winds W at 20 to 30 mph. REPORT:

The angler density was low today. The few guests that fished the run today only fished for an hour or so, they stated that the water was very dirty. No fish were reported hooked or landed today.

The angler density was low, and fishing activity was stated as slow. We received a report from one angler that landed one Steelhead and hooked a few others in the middle section of the run.

DSR Fishing Report for 09 March 2026:

REPORT:

The angler density was moderate today with just under twenty anglers on the run.  Fishing activity was listed as slow; water temperature was 34 degrees F at dawn. Although some anglers landed a handful of steelhead, (along with a couple browns), most of our guests reported few hookups.  There was a noticeable increase in water clarity today as opposed to yesterday also.  We can confirm the blockage of ice that began vicinity of the top of the Meadow Run has cleared and is fishable through the entirety of the run at this moment, (dependent on the flow when attempting to wade.)  With the start of Daylight Savings Time, our hours of operation have changed to opening at 6:45 am and closing at 7:45 pm.

WEATHER / CFS:

The current dam release is 1200 cfs, scheduled to bump up to 1500 CFS at 10:00pm this evening and currently scheduled to stay at that flow until 11:59pm on 03/15/2026. The gauge at Pineville is at 1710 CFS.

Tonight:  Clear to partly cloudy.  Low around 40 F. Winds SSE at 10-15 mph.

The angler density was low today and it’s unknown how he did. With the start of Daylight Savings Time, our hours of operation have changed to opening at 6:45 am and closing at 7:45 pm.

DSR Fishing Report for 07 March 2026:

REPORT:

Angler density was moderate today, and angler success was slow. The anglers were between the middle and lower ends of the run. One angler had indicated landing a Brown Trout and one morning angler landed one Steelhead in the lower section of the run. The rain in the early AM caused the run to get very dirty as the day went on, this made fishing difficult for a majority of the day.

Angler density was low today, and angler success was slow to moderate. The anglers were between the middle and lower ends of the run. One angler had success using pink worms and blue egg sacks. Steelhead were the noted species today.

Angler density was low today, and angler success was slow to moderate. One guest reported landing multiple Steelhead in the upper section of the run and another guest reported hooking double digits in the middle section of the run.

REPORT:

Angler density was low today, and angler success was slow. Almost all of the guests that fished the run today indicated a very slow bite with some not even hooking a fish. With that being said… Bobby (featured below) landed a very nice male Steelhead in the upper section of the run.

DSR Fishing Report for 01 March 2026:

REPORT:

Angler density was low today, and angler success was slow to moderate. One season pass holder had a really good day in the middle of the run centerpinning, landing several fresh Steelhead. The middle of the run saw the most action with a few Steelhead and Browns being landed. Centerpinning was the choice of rigging today. Anglers were commenting on the flow, that 750CFS out of the dam is not reflected in the flow on the run.  

WEATHER / CFS:

The current dam release is scheduled to stay at 750cfs until 7:00pm on 03/01/2026 when the flow will be increased to 1200CFS. This level will remain until 11:59pm on 03/02/2026 . The gauge at Pineville has been malfunctioning as we’re still not receiving a flow report from that gauge. Tonight: Cloudy early with some clearing expected late. A few flurries or snow showers possible. Low 1F. Winds light and variable.   Tomorrow: Mostly sunny. High 24F. Winds light and variable.   Sunrise:  6:42am         Sunset:  5:53pm
