23 Nov 2025 full-day DSR fishing report.
Today's forecast: Snow this morning will give way to rain this afternoon. High 41F. SSE winds shifting to WSW at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 90%.
The current dam release is 750 CFS, where it is projected to remain until 11/23/25 at 11:59 PM. The CFS at the Pineville gauge is currently at 989 as of 3:30 PM. Water temperature was 36 degrees this morning, as of 8 AM.
The majority of our guests fished the middle section, with about a third opting for the upper section, and a few individuals the lower section; all sections fished relatively equally well today. The guests I was able to speak to indicated they were able to at least hook-up, with a fairly large percentage bringing one to four fish to hand, and a handful achieved even higher numbers. Steelhead were the predominate species; mostly bright chrome, with a fair percentage of these crossing into the “big-boy!” class. A trio of Brown Trout in the 13” to 24” category showed up as well. Of the day, guests remarked “Amazing!”, “Some nice ones!”, “Got a bunch.”, “Not as good as yesterday.” (which was apparently a great day …).
Successful Baits & Techniques - each of these produced well, in this order: beads in the 10 to 14mm size, “yellow” (tangerine) tinted beads were most productive today, followed by pink beads, both drifted under a bobber; blue followed by pink egg sacks drifted under bobbers; swinging a chartreuse colored fly, as well as big flies (e.g., 4” Intruder).
Featured today (see below) is Steve, with a nice Steelhead, guided by DSR Guide Derek Conant of Legendary Waters.
The forecast for tonight is: Rain showers this evening with overcast skies overnight. Low near 35F. Winds NW at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 60%.
The forecast for tomorrow is: Mostly cloudy skies. High 42F. Winds W at 5 to 10 mph.

20 Nov 2025 full-day DSR fishing report. Today's forecast: the skies were generally light overcast to hazy blue, however there was brilliant sunshine most of the day, generally light breezes with occasional wind, 31 degrees to start the day, warming up to our high of 44 degrees by mid-afternoon, no precipitation at all today. The current dam release is 1800 CFS, where it is projected to remain until 11/20/25 at 11:59 PM. The CFS at the Pineville gauge is currently at 2060 as of 3:30 PM. Water temperature was 36 degrees this morning as of 6:30 AM. We came close to our upper angler limit today, with our guests arriving just before our opening time of 6:15, until as late as 2:30 PM. After checking-in, they scattered to all parts of the run. Some founds holes in each section, where they anchored for the day, achieving moderate success, while others walked the run, “skipping and dipping”, enjoying equal success. Of all the reports I received today, all of our guests were able to at least hook into a couple of fish, with most bringing to hand ones, twos, threes, with one skillful guest achieving double-digits. According to our guests, all sections of the run fished well today, primarily Steelhead, with at least four Brown Trout reported, two of which were in the +10# weight bracket. The action slacked off a bit around 9 AM, then kicked right back up at noon for about an hour, before leveling off. Beads in the 14mm size (chartreuse most productive, followed by tangerine), drifted under bobbers, egg sacks under bobbers, and swinging flies produced, in that order. The forecast for tonight is: "Partly cloudy this evening, then becoming cloudy after midnight. Low 31F. Winds SE at 5 to 10 mph." The forecast for tomorrow is: "Cloudy skies with a few showers later in the day. High 46F. Winds SW at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 30%." 1800 CFS Dam Release
Clouds
16 Nov '25: The flow from the dam was previously at 1000, dropped to 750 for yesterday, then unexpectedly rose to 1200 CFS last night, at 6 PM, and is projected to remain there until 11:59 PM tonight. The CFS at the Pineville gauge was at 1800 this morning, rising to 1940 over the course of the day (we had a light but steady rain all last night). No water temperature reading was taken today. Reports from our guests indicated the water was “milky” in some areas, definitely stained in all other areas, with visibility about four feet through the water. We are not forecasted to receive any significant rain tonight, so I believe the staining will pretty much clear out soon enough. The weather for this morning was heavy overcast, mid 40s to start the day, dropping to the high 30s by the end of the day, sustained winds with higher gusts, a drizzling rain during the morning that cleared up around noon. First thing this morning there was a steady trickle of guests checking-in at the Welcome Center, with the remainder accessing as lodge guests from the South side or directly from their lodges. Individuals, and groups of guests, started leaving the run around 9 AM through 11 AM, sporadically thereafter. It stood to reason that the more experienced angler you were, especially fishing higher waters, the “better” the fishing was for you today. About half of our guests were able to hook-up, if not bring a fish to hand, with most drifting eggs and beads under bobbers, or bottom bouncing eggs. Steelhead mostly, although one angler briefly tangled with two Brown Trout. The forecast for tonight is: “Overcast. A few flurries or snow showers possible. High 36F. Winds WNW at 15 to 25 mph.”. The forecast for tomorrow is: “Overcast. A few flurries or snow showers possible. Low 31F. Winds NW at 10 to 20 mph”.

There was no water temperature taken this morning. The weather for this morning was cold, temperature was 31F and overcast skies. For this afternoon: “Cloudy with occasional rain during the afternoon. High 42F. Winds SE at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 100%. Rainfall around a quarter of an inch”. This morning there was low angler presence in the upper section, and the action was slow.. There was moderate angler volume and moderate angler success in the middle sections of the run. There was moderate volume in the lower sections of the run, the success was slow. Steelhead still predominate throughout the run. Fish were moving through the entire run. The afternoon report had most anglers migration from the lower and upper section into the middle section; angler activity improved from moderate to good for the middle section. For those that remained in either the upper and lower parts, angler success was slow. One of our season pass holders landed three Browns. The forecast for tonight is: “A steady rain this evening. Showers continuing overnight. Low 39F. S winds shifting to W at 15 to 25 mph. Chance of rain 100%. Rainfall around a half an inch. Locally heavier rainfall possible”.

The weather for this morning was heavy overcast, mid 30s to low 40s (forecasted high of 44), dead calm with occasional light wind, no precipitation. The weather for the afternoon was mostly cloudy, low 40s, all else remained the same. This morning there was no report for the top or bottom sections of the run. The upper part of the upper section had no anglers present. There was low angler presence in the lower part of the upper section. The weather this morning was light overcast, low to mid 30s to begin the day (forecast high of 42 degrees), generally light winds, a very light snowfall all morning, with some brief flurries, minor accumulation, which began melting as the temperature rose above freezing. Water temperature was 40 degrees. This morning there was no report for the top section of the run. The upper part of the upper section had no anglers present. All other sections reported low guest density. There was very little information available for the bottom of the run, as well as the lower section, as there were only a couple of guests present throughout those areas. Slow fishing activity was reported for the bottom of the middle section, but fishing activity was described as good for the areas of the top of the middle section up through the bottom of the upper section. All anglers our River Patrol were able to speak with reported at least hooking up with fish. Some described the fishing activity today as “much better than the last two days”. Steelhead still predominate throughout the run; however, a few Chinook (King) Salmon were brought to hand in the bottom of the upper section. Fish were moving through and upriver.
