DSR Fishing Report:

Friday, September 18 / PM

Tomorrow Sunrise: 6:48 AM             Tomorrow Sunset: 7:07 PM

The current dam release is 185 CFS, where it is projected to remain until 09/25/26 11:59 PM. The CFS at the Pineville gauge is currently 236 as of 5:00 PM. Water temperature was 69 degrees F at the time of this report.

In the Upper Section, angling success was described as  “quiet” for the lower part, “quiet” for the middle part, and “quiet” for the uppermost part.  Fish species reported were all Chinook (King) Salmon. The fish present were actively moving upriver through the section, Angler density in this section was described as “low” in the lower two-thirds and “none” present in the uppermost part.

In the Middle Section, angling success was described as “good” in the bottom and uppermost parts of the section, with the middle part described as “moderate”. Fish species reported to be all King Salmon. The fish present were actively moving upriver in all parts of this section. Angler density in this section was described as “low” throughout the section.

In the Lower Section, angling success was described as “good” throughout the section.  Fish species reported were all King Salmon. The fish present were moving upriver through the estuary part, then holding in pools within the top part of this section. Angler density in this section was described as “low” in the estuary part and “moderate” just upriver.

Some will ask how we can have 20 passes for sale this morning if we were already "sold out" online? Each winter we take our daily limit for a specific day (in this case 250), subtract the average number of individuals who showed up on this specific day over the past five years (for example 200), at which time we would put 50 passes for sale online, during January, for this specific day. After we have checked in all the individuals during our specified processing times, we compare who actually showed up versus our predicted shows. After some further internal computations we will release available passes at 7:00 AM during our walk-up pass sales.

• **Announcements**: A reminder that, effective this season, we are asking that all categories of guests check-out with us, either in-person at the Welcome Center, telephonically, or with River Patrol at other access points (e.g., Black Hole, estuary, lodge guest parking) when they leave the run for the day; this will enable us to more effectively monitor and control the number of anglers on the run, in order to meet both the spirit and intent of our daily angler limit.

• Manor House reserved fishing areas (the areas includes the South channel below the Glide, and the Upper Clay pool) will be in effect until 15 November.  For guest planning purposes, each section is to be considered closed to fishing each day.  However, each morning during this period, the assigned guide for the Manor House guests will ascertain which area(s), and during what times, the guests will be fishing during that particular day, and communicate that to the assigned River Patrol for the Manor House.  The assigned River Patrol will post the appropriate signage (closed, or open) for each area and then notify Guest Services of the status (remains closed to all guests or will be open for part or all of the time).  Guests Services will then publish any updates via Facebook and our website.  There is also a whiteboard in the breezeway of the Welcome Center that will have the current status of the Manor House reserved areas.

  No fishing to actively spawning fish; spawning fish are defined as either actively digging or sitting on a bed.

  Keep fish in water until immediately before taking your photograph to avoid harming them prior to release
