1760 CFS Pineville Gauge
1500 CFS Dam Release

February 14, 2024

CFS at the dam 500, and is projected to rise to 750 at 6:15 PM tonight - CFS at the Pineville gauge remained at 695 throughout the day - air temperatures started at 16 degrees and only rose to 29 degrees as of this report - skies alternated between overcast in the early morning, through partly cloudy into clear with brilliant sunshine, now hazy blue with weak sunshine - winds were generally light, with occasional gusts. Our guests checked-in mid-morning - the middle section was productive, with egg sacks under a bobber what the Steelhead wanted today - the Steelhead were, on average, in the 6# range - Tonight's forecast: "Partly cloudy skies. A few flurries or snow showers possible. Low 18F. Winds NNW at 10 to 20 mph." Tomorrow's forecast: "Becoming cloudy with snow likely in the afternoon. High 34F. Winds SE at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of snow 100%. Snow accumulating 1 to 3 inches.". NOTE: a reminder, as we approach much colder air temperatures, that fish must be kept wholly in the water throughout the release process, with a very brief lift for a photograph, and never laid out on the ground. In these sub-freezing temperatures, prolonged exposure to the air will damage their gills through freezing, and contact with the ground in any temperature will always remove their protective slime or damage them internally as they flop.
