As forecasted, winds steadily picked up as the day progressed, but a number of anglers were able to get a few hours in before things got too challenging. On top of the challenging conditions, much to everyone's surprise there was an adjustment to the dam release last night (1/8) at 9:00 PM from 500 CFS to 350 CFS, and then from 350 CFS to 285 CFS at 11:00 AM this morning (1/9). Overall, despite their efforts, it sounded like most of our anglers had a hard time fighting even the lighter winds this morning. A few anglers sought out some cover and managed a couple of fish, but by the early afternoon winds had become nearly unmanageable, and the expected rain presented itself as snow with blizzard like conditions. The dam release is currently scheduled to remain at 285 CFS until 11:59 PM tonight (1/9). Please check safewaters.com/facility/lighthouse-hill for an updated dam release scheduled ahead of any planned trips.
