October 14, 2023

9 AM River Patrol fishing report: CFS at the dam 335, CFS at the Pineville gauge 519, air temperature currently 46 degrees, water temperature 51 degrees, overcast, dead calm - the estuary section, as well as just upriver, reported Chinook ("King") salmon and Steelhead present in the estuary, mostly Kings just upriver, both slowly moving upriver as well as holding in pools, providing "moderate" action (hooking up, but could be better) for our guests - as we move upriver, all sections are reporting both Kings and Steelhead present, both moving upriver as well as holding in pools, providing "slow" action (hookups few and far between) at the lower part of the lower section, "moderate" action through the rest of the lower section and on up through the middle section, then "good" action (steady hookups) at the upper section, with fish starting to hold up in pools there
featured pictures are the sunrise over the DSR that greeted our guests early this morning; Doug, a soldier with the 10th Mountain Division (Fort Drum, NY), with a fine Atlantic Salmon he brought to hand early yesterday evening while guided by Scott Mathna of RedLegg Outfitters; Matt, with fine examples of a Chinook salmon as well as a Steelhead recently brought to hand
