500 CFS Dam Release

October 9, 2023

Guests are advised NOT to attempt to cross the river today; water levels can rapidly rise and strand you, as happened yesterday
9:45 AM River Patrol fishing report: CFS at the dam is 350, at the Pineville gauge is 1100, opening air temperature 46 degrees, water temperature 56 degrees, overcast, dead calm, not currently raining - reports from top to bottom indicate fish are moving upriver, with a majority of those hugging the banks - the water is murky due to runoff - just upriver from the estuary, guests are experiencing "moderate" action (hooking up, but could be better) on both Chinook ("King") salmon and Steelhead - at the lower end of the lower section there is "slow" guest action (hookups few and far between) on Kings, however a little farther up the action picks up to "moderate", all Steelhead with one token King in the mix - the middle and upper sections are experiencing "slow" guest action, on Kings -
featured are Karl with a King salmon; and Hugo (with scarf, fishing with Dad, Jeff) and a nice King as well
