MODIFIED OPENING TIME SATURDAY 25 FEB '23: due to forecasted extreme overnight cold temperatures, DSR will open at 9 AM tomorrow morning - we will be open until our published closing time of 6:30 PM - today, the CFS was 1000 at the dam, 1330 at the Pineville gauge - water temperature 33 degrees - overnight we received perhaps 3" of fluffy lake effect snow - air temperatures started out this morning in the mid-teens and only climbed into the mid-20s, where it is at as of the time of this report - we had generally overcast skies, except in the mid-afternoon when some patches of blue peeked out, with occasional sunshine - winds were fairly light and were variable - occasional snow flurries drifted through the area - four guests joined us on the run today, from mid-morning through early afternoon - the first guest came off the run at 1:22 PM, reporting 0 / 1 on a "large" Brown trout, swinging a fly - "it was tough fishing" . . . the next guest, the last to check in earlier in the afternoon, came off the run at 3 PM - he walked the parts of the run which were accessible, drifting both beads and egg sacks under a bobber, to no avail - our last two guests left the run together at 3:45 PM - the lady brought a 5# Brown Trout to hand, drifting a pink egg sack under a bobber - the other angler reported 0 / 1 on what he believes was a Steelhead - the forecast for tonight is: Cloudy. A few flurries or snow showers possible. Low 7F. NW winds shifting to NE at 10 to 15 mph. The forecast for tomorrow is: Snow showers. High 24F. Winds ESE at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of snow 60%. About one inch of snow expected.
