500 CFS Dam Release

October 18, 2023

9 AM River Patrol fishing report: CFS at the dam 335, CFS at the Pineville gauge 476, opening air temperature was 51 degrees, water temperature 52 degrees, mostly cloudy with patches of interspersed blue, dead calm, no current precipitation - the estuary and lowest section of the run reported Steelhead moving up into the river, providing "slow" action (hooking up infrequently) for our guests - the lower section also reports "slow" action, again on Steelhead, with these fish continuing to move upriver as well as some choosing to hold in pools - in the middle section the guest action picked up to "moderate" (hooking up, but could be better), on both Chinook ("Kings") and Steelhead, these fish both moving upriver as well as some holding in pools in this section - the report is the same for the lower part of the upper section, however at the uppermost part of the run guest action was described as "slow" on Steelhead holding in pools -
featured are an unidentified guest with a "Jack" (juvenile) King salmon; Olivia, with a nice Steelhead, and her friend Bobby; Blake, a service Veteran, with his first-ever "Steel", guided by DSR Guide Scott Mathna of RedLegg Outfitters
