1530 CFS Pineville Gauge
1200 CFS Dam Release

January 5, 2026

Monday, 5 January 2026, full-day DSR fishing report follows. NOTE: our operating hours will return to normal (6:30 AM through 5:15 PM) effective tomorrow, 6 January 2026. Today's forecast: "Snow this morning will give way to lingering snow showers this afternoon. High 29F. Winds SE at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of snow 80%. Snow accumulating 1 to 3 inches.". The current dam release is 1000 CFS, where it is projected to remain until tonight at 6 PM. At 6 PM tonight the flow will rise to 1200 CFS, where it will remain until 11:59 PM 01/06/26. The CFS at the Pineville gauge was at 1300 at our opening time, and remained there over the course of the day. The water temperature was not available this morning. There wasn't any slush in the water this morning. It should be noted that the increase in CFS will likely flush out any slush quicker each day. Guests went down to the run at opening time this morning, or soon thereafter. You should have been here . . . The first one off the run, who fished in the middle section only, reported an incredible 17 Steelhead brought to hand, of 19 hooked. There was a range of sizes, up to 34" (see picture). The last two guests off the run, at dusk, reported 6 / 11 Steelhead between them (see pictures), and a 17" Brown Trout. The Steelhead were a mix of chrome bright and colored-up. Successful Baits & Techniques: blue egg sacks drifted under a bobber accounted for 99% of the fish today. Featured is Niko, a member of our Guest Services team at the DSR (sunglasses); Mitch, one of our River Patrol (orange hood); and their mutual buddy, Dan (yellow trimmed black hood); each with a magnificent Steelhead. Chance of snow 40%.". The forecast for tomorrow is: "Cloudy skies with periods of rain later in the day. Some mixed winter precipitation possible. High near 35F. Winds SE at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 100%.". NOTE: due to the potential for lake effect snow, and other forms of inclement weather conditions during the winter season, please monitor the weather site forecasts (use national, area-wide, and local sites) for Pulaski, NY (zip code 13142) before getting on the road; remember that lake effect snow typically occurs in relatively narrow bands, and that immediately adjacent areas may be clear of snow, therefore look at the forecast for the general area as well when planning your travel.
