750 CFS Dam Release

November 23, 2025

23 Nov 2025 full-day DSR fishing report. Today's forecast: Snow this morning will give way to rain this afternoon. High 41F. SSE winds shifting to WSW at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 90%. The current dam release is 750 CFS, where it is projected to remain until 11/23/25 at 11:59 PM. The CFS at the Pineville gauge is currently at 989 as of 3:30 PM. Water temperature was 36 degrees this morning, as of 8 AM. The majority of our guests fished the middle section, with about a third opting for the upper section, and a few individuals the lower section; all sections fished relatively equally well today.  The guests I was able to speak to indicated they were able to at least hook-up, with a fairly large percentage bringing one to four fish to hand, and a handful achieved even higher numbers.  Steelhead were the predominate species; mostly bright chrome, with a fair percentage of these crossing into the “big-boy!” class.  A trio of Brown Trout in the 13” to 24” category showed up as well.  Of the day, guests remarked “Amazing!”, “Some nice ones!”, “Got a bunch.”, “Not as good as yesterday.” (which was apparently a great day …). Successful Baits & Techniques - each of these produced well, in this order:  beads in the 10 to 14mm size, “yellow” (tangerine) tinted beads were most productive today, followed by pink beads, both drifted under a bobber; blue followed by pink egg sacks drifted under bobbers; swinging a chartreuse colored fly, as well as big flies (e.g., 4” Intruder). Featured today (see below) is Steve, with a nice Steelhead, guided by DSR Guide Derek Conant of Legendary Waters. No photo description available. The forecast for tonight is: Rain showers this evening with overcast skies overnight. Low near 35F. Winds NW at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 60%. The forecast for tomorrow is: Mostly cloudy skies. High 42F. Winds W at 5 to 10 mph. ANNOUNCEMENTS: The Special Regulations Area, at the Meadow, remains in effect through 30 November 2025.
