NOTE / SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: the stream restoration project is completed as of today; all areas of the river, including below # 19 (No Name) is reopened to fishing effective 5:45 AM tomorrow, 6 September 2025.
River Patrol 5 PM fishing report (this report is a subjective, generalized, evaluation of fishing conditions within large, yet specific, areas of the run, compiled through personal observations of the River Patrol assigned to these areas, as well as those of our guests angling within these areas, over a span of several hours, and may differ from your personal observations):
the estuary section was closed to fishing today, due to ongoing river restoration construction, however there were reports of small pods of up to 10 fish actively moving upriver throughout the afternoon;
the lower section from #19 (No Name) downriver was closed to fishing today, due to ongoing river restoration construction, but there were reports of a substantial number of fish in that area of the lower section, actively pushing upriver. Reports for the rest of that section was that there was low guest density, slow fishing activity, with a mix of Chinook (King) and Coho Salmon actively moving upriver, some moving back downriver (typically Coho), and another population holding in pools;
the middle section reported moderate to low guest density as you traveled upriver in that section, moderate to slow fishing activity traveling upriver in that section, with Chinook (King) Salmon and a sprinkling of Coho holding in pools;
the upper section reported very low to low guest density, slow to quiet angling activity, with Kings and Cohos holding in that area;
the top section reported fish holding in that area, with no angling activity.
As guests started coming off the river near dusk, from various parts of the run, I was being told "there are crazy amounts of fish moving", "the last three hours was wave after wave of Cohos", and similar remarks indicating that those fish stacking up in the lower area today received a trigger to move.
The forecast for tonight is: "Cloudy. Slight chance of a rain shower. Low 57F. Winds WSW at 10 to 15 mph." The forecast for tomorrow is: "Cloudy with occasional rain...mainly in the morning. Much cooler. High 62F. Winds SW at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 90%. Rainfall around a quarter of an inch."
featured is season pass holder Scott, with a nice "River Unicorn" a.k.a. Atlantic Salmon; congratulations Scott! Note the characteristic deeply forked tail, as well as the "X" markings along the upper part of the body.
Today marks the end of the river restoration construction; two pictures are provided for your viewing: in the first (of the river) the perspective is from the Meadow looking upriver to the Upper Clay; the second (burlap covered bank) is of the Meadow looking downriver towards the chute.
