Fishing Report for 04/27/’25-The first half of the day we had blustery north winds, with scattered showers, and temperatures in the high 30s to the low 40s. By mid-day however, the sky cleared, the winds dropped off and the temperature reached the mid-50s. The fishing seemed to fall somewhere between a very slow day for some, and a good to excellent day for others. Speaking with our guests as they came off the run the comments varied from ‘slow’ to ‘very good’ with some anglers not hooking up at all and others hooking and landing multiple fish. Although a few Smallmouth were caught, Steelhead are far and away the predominant fish on the run, (no reports today of any Atlantics brought to hand.) Most of the anglers I spoke with used Centerpins with beads under a float, but the Spey anglers did very well also using wooly buggers and intruder style flies. Water temperature was around 46 degrees in the early hours and rose to 50 degrees by mid-afternoon. Tomorrow’s forecast calls for mostly sunny skies with temperatures ranging from mid 40s at sun-up and climbing to the low 60s by mid afternoon with winds under 5 mph. The water flow from the dam is scheduled to remain at 500 cfs through at least 11:59 tomorrow evening; the Pineville gauge is currently at 826 cfs.
