1770 CFS Pineville Gauge
1500 CFS Dam Release

October 5, 2023

9 AM River Patrol fishing report: CFS at the dam 350, CFS at the Pineville gauge 430, opening time air temperature was 66 degrees, water temperature 62 degrees, currently mostly cloudy (thin cover) with patches of blue peeking through, periodic weak sunshine, fairly breezy (which will be a good thing as we move towards our forecasted high of 82 degrees . . . ) - estuary section reported "good" guest action (hooking up steadily) on Chinook ("Kings") moving through and on up into the run - it is puzzling that, just upriver, the action is described as "quiet", although Kings are continuing to move through, with some holding up in this area - the lower section of the run is reporting "slow" guest action (hookups few and far between) lower down, ramping up to "good" farther up, predominately Kings, with a lone Steelhead in the mix, with the fish both holding in pools and a percentage choosing to continue to move upriver - in the middle section guest action was described as "good" fading to "moderate" (hooking up, but could be better) farther upriver, Kings with a few Coho in the mix, with these fish both holding in pools and moving up slowly - the sporadic movement and holding of fish continued into the upper section, providing "good" tapering to "slow" guest action, on a mix of Kings, Cohos, and Steelhead featured are Brian, with a very nice Atlantic Salmon, guided by DSR Guide Nate Adam of Up N' Adam Guide Service; and Andy, with his very first Chinook ("King") salmon, guided by DSR Guide Scott Mathna of RedLegg OutfittersNo photo description available.
