A gloomy day with chilling temperatures, periods of rain, and cloudy skies gave way to an afternoon of ample sunshine and warmer temperatures. Today was what I would call a "transition day." While the reports indicate that while there are still plenty of salmon still in the river, the primary species, by far, that was brought to hand were Steelhead. While things can change again, it does seem that we are transitioning from a fishery where salmon are the dominant species to one in which the Steelhead is dominant. Not a bad thing. The scheduled flow from the dam dropped to 500 cfs at noon today, through midnight tomorrow and the current flow at Pineville is 666 cfs and dropping. Pictured below is a happy angler that landed some nice Steelhead in the morning and this beautiful brown trout in the afternoon. What a fishery!!
