CFS at the dam 750, CFS at the Pineville gauge 1030 - air temperature started at 43 degrees to start the morning, it is currently 36 degrees - water temperature was recorded at 34 degrees first thing this morning - a generally overcast day, with variable winds that made fishing tough whenever it picked up throughout the day - we had 20 guests join us on the run - I came on shift in the early afternoon, so was able to catch the first guests who came off the run - at 1 PM one guest reported 0 / 2 swinging flies in the lower section - at 1:45 PM another guest reported getting skunked despite fishing the middle to lower sections - at 2:45 PM a trio of guests reported that two were skunked, however the last guest reported a lot of Steelhead (I got the sense of five total) with one at the 11# mark - near 3 PM one guest reported 3 / 5 (two were Steelhead, one was a Brown Trout), bottom bouncing pink egg sacks on the bottom, with one of the Steelhead pushing 15# after we both looked at the picture of the fish - two guests who left on his heels reported 3 / ? and 0 / 3 Steelhead, also bouncing pink egg sacks on the bottom - at 4:45 PM a guest reported 1 / 3 Steelhead swinging a blue estaz (spelling?) fly in the middle section - just afterwards, a guest on the phone reported, in passing, one Brown Trout (no other details) - near 5 PM a guest reported 1 / 2 Steelhead drifting a 10mm frosted light orange bead under a bobber - at 5:45 a guest reported 1 / 1 Steelhead bouncing a 10mm frosted peach bead on the bottom - our last two guests, at 6:05 PM, reported 3 / 6 (two Steelhead 6# & 10#, a 6# Brown Trout) between them, drifting green and orange beads under a bobber - the forecast for tonight is: Partly cloudy early followed by cloudy skies overnight. Low 26F. Winds ENE at 5 to 10 mph. Tomorrow's forecast is: Rain showers in the morning will evolve into a more steady rain in the afternoon. A few flurries or snow showers possible. High 42F. SE winds shifting to WSW at 15 to 25 mph. Chance of rain 90%.
