9 AM and 4 PM consolidated River Patrol fishing report: CFS 335 at the dam, CFS 430 at the Pineville gauge - water temperature a cool 48 degrees this morning - air temperature started out at 49 degrees early this morning and gradually rose to its current 61 degrees - a mostly overcast day, with light winds - this morning the lower section continued with a weeklong trend of being very slow (only one King was brought to hand there) - however, again, the further upriver you traveled, the better the action became - the upper section experienced an intense initial flurry of action at first light, which slowly subsided to a "slow pick" - guests trekking through the Welcome Center throughout the day provided individual reports, which were fairly positive, ranging from singles on Steelhead, through "five", to one lucky guided angler with double-digit hookups on Steelhead - covering water, technique, served them well - the late afternoon report was that action had generally died down throughout the run - however, these past few days, at the lower end, the few hours before dusk have witnessed a brief but very intense period of fish activity - the overnight low will be 53 degrees, with a 30% chance of showers late at night (good news!) - the forecast for tomorrow is: 60% chance of rain showers (better news!) early with overcast skies later in the day. High near 60F. Winds SW at 5 to 10 mph.
